Barcelona have officially confirmed their starting lineup for a crucial La Liga encounter against Rayo Vallecano.

Heading into the match, there was a strong expectation that Hansi Flick would opt for rotation, especially given the demanding schedule and recent fixtures.

However, the German coach has chosen continuity over change, sticking largely with the core group that has delivered strong performances in recent matches.

The biggest talking point comes in defence, where some anticipated adjustments have not materialised.

With concerns surrounding the workload of Eric Garcia, there were suggestions that Xavi Espart could be handed a starting role.

While both players remain available on the bench, Flick has instead opted for a more established backline.

The defensive unit features Joao Cancelo, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Gerard Martin.

Notably, Flick continues with the tactical adjustment that has worked well in recent games, deploying Araujo at right-back.

This means Cubarsi and Gerard Martin will once again form the centre-back pairing, while Cancelo operates from the left flank.

In midfield, Fermin Lopez retains his place as the advanced midfielder, meaning Dani Olmo will again have to wait for his opportunity from the bench.

Further forward, Robert Lewandowski continues to lead the line after his recent brace. This decision leaves Ferran Torres on the bench, despite earlier expectations that he could start.

There is also a notable situation involving Marc Bernal, who has been included in the starting XI ahead of Marc Casado.

The young midfielder enters the match under pressure, as he is just one yellow card away from suspension.

A booking in this fixture would rule him out of the upcoming clash against Atletico Madrid.
