Carles Martínez Novell will leave Toulouse FC at the end of the current season, the club confirmed in a press release on Wednesday.
Martínez Novell initially joined Toulouse as an assistant to Philippe Montanier back in 2023 and was on the bench as the club lifted the Coupe de France trophy. He then replaced the Frenchman for the following season, leading Le TéFéCé in their UEFA Europa League campaign.
The Spaniard has, to date, taken charge of 118 games at Toulouse, but he will take charge of just three more. Les Violets are currently comfortably mid-table but will now prepare for a summer of change. Martínez Novell’s contract was coming to an end, and reports in recent weeks suggested that the Spaniard would not be extending. A return to his native Spain has been touted.
Toulouse have now confirmed his impending departure. “I wish him all the best for the future, on a personal and on a professional level,” said Olivier Cloarec in the press release. Olivier Pantaloni, who will leave FC Lorient at the end of the season, is currently the frontrunner to replace him.
