Official: Ex-Real Sociedad chief to join Aston Villa

A former member of the boardroom at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad has agreed to take his talents to England, with Aston Villa.

That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Roberto Olabe as the player in question.

Olabe is for his part best known for his time spent at the aforementioned Real Sociedad.

The Spaniard was widely hailed for his work done behind the scenes at Anoeta prior to departing his position at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Olabe, in turn, has been linked with some of European football’s leading clubs, including the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid.

As alluded to above, though, it is another club who have early this week struck a deal for the director.

After the departure of ex-Sevilla chief Monchi from Villa Park was confirmed on Monday night, Olabe has agreed on the terms of a move to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
