Filipe Luis has been named as the new manager of AS Monaco. The Brazilian has signed a X-year deal, as confirmed on Wednesday.

Luis has succeeded Sébastien Pocognoli in the role. The Belgian had replaced Adi Hutter back in October 2025, but despite seeing out the season, Pocognoli could only lead the Principality club to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1. As a result, the club fell short of their objective to qualify for the UEFA Champions League; next season, they will compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

It is Luis, highly rated across Europe due to his spell as manager of Flamengo, who will lead that campaign. In Brazil, the former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea defender won the Copa Libertadores in the 2024-25 season, before departing back in September 2025 after 100 games in charge of Flamengo. Luis is now set for his first managerial experience in Europe.
