The arrival of Bazoumana Touré at Hoffenheim wasn’t the only transaction confirmed in Sinsheim on Saturday afternoon. The Kraichgauer have also reacted to the long-term injury of keeper Oliver Baumann by bringing in former Union Berlin keeper Jakob Busk to back-up Luca Philipp.

The 31-year-old Dane left Union in January 2024 after going six years without a competitive appearance. Busk made 56 2. Bundesliga appearances for die Eisernen between 2015 and 2018, yet never featured for Union after their promotion to the top flight ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Busk returned home to Denmark to represent Sønderjyske in the Danish Superliga, where he made a total of 16 appearances. The deal that sends him back to Germany is a six-month loan arrangement. TSG managing director Andreas Schicker took care to emphasize a backing of Philipp in a club statement.

Luca Philipp has our full confidence in the coming weeks,” Schicker’s statement read. “We are convinced that he will be a worthy representative for our captain Oliver Baumann in the TSG goal during his injury break. Since our young keeper Lukas Petersson is currently injured too, we needed to acquire another keeper on the transfer market.”

“It wasn’t planned that I would move on after such a short time,” Busk added in his own statement, “but that’s football. When an opportunity like this arises, one has to take it.
