Borussia Dortmund have announced that Jamie Gittens will move to Chelsea this summer, with the final details still needing to be clarified.
In a statement on the club’s website, Dortmund said that an agreement had been reached and the final contract details needed clarification. The fee for the 20-year-old has previously been reported to be around €65m, including add-ons.
If the deal is finalised soon, Gittens will be able to play for Chelsea in their quarter-final tie in the Club World Cup against Palmeiras.
Since joining Manchester City’s academy in 2021, Gittens has gone on to make 107 appearances for die Schwarzgelben, scoring 17 times. The first half of the 2024/25 season was he is best in a Dortmund shirt, but since the arrival of Niko Kovac as head coach, the winger has fallen out of favour and has failed to find the same vein of form.
Dortmund can now use the money earned from Gittens’ sale to invest in other areas of their squad as currently, the only signing they have made this summer has been Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland.
