Earlier today, the Higher Sports Council (CSD) ruled in favor of Barcelona, confirming the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor with the first team.

They also nullified the previous decision made by the Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement.

The CSD further stated that the committee lacked the authority to deny the licenses and that the decision was made without following proper procedures, thereby rendering it invalid.

However, La Liga has wasted no time in responding to the ruling, announcing that it will appeal the decision to the Administrative Court, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The league maintains that the Monitoring Committee’s actions were appropriate and based on the automatic application of player registration rules, which were enforced through the La Liga Manager system.

In its official statement, La Liga argued that the CSD’s jurisdiction does not extend to the cancellation or extension of licenses, insisting that the matter falls under the internal regulatory framework of the league.

Furthermore, the governing body accused the CSD of acting beyond its competence and disregarding established administrative and judicial doctrines.

La Liga also criticized the speed with which precautionary measures in favor of Barcelona were granted back in January, alleging that it violated principles of due process and competitive fairness.

The league further noted that the licenses of Olmo and Víctor expired automatically on December 31, 2024, and therefore, no official cancellation was ever required.

It now remains to be seen whether or not La Liga’s appeal will make any impact on CSD’s decision.

Olmo, for his part, is currently injured, though Barcelona are optimistic about having the Spaniard back in full fitness before the Champions League second-leg quarterfinal against Borussia Dortmund.
