Official – LFP moves Ligue 1 matchday 33 and the UNFP Trophies

Strasbourg’s qualification for the Europa Conference League semi-finals, after coming back against Mainz (4-0 in the second leg following a 2-0 defeat in the first), is excellent news for French football. It is also a slight shake-up, since the return leg against Rayo Vallecano is scheduled for May 7. The Ligue de Football Professionnel has therefore moved the Ligue 1 Matchday 33 multiplex originally scheduled for May 9, as well as the UNFP Trophies ceremony.

“Ligue 1 McDonald’s Matchday 33: RC Lens v FC Nantes will be played on Friday, May 8 at 8:45 p.m. The other eight matches will be played simultaneously on Sunday, May 10 at 9 p.m. Ligue 1 McDonald’s Matchday 34: The nine matches of the final matchday will be played simultaneously on Sunday, May 17 at 9 p.m.

A logical decision, since it is not possible to play with only one day of rest. It is smart to adapt the schedule a little to European competition, even if we know that it can also spark major controversy. This time, it would be surprising to see any protest. The same goes for Matchday 34. Above all, let’s be glad to have two French clubs in a European semi-final, since PSG will face Bayern Munich on April 28 and May 6 in the Champions League.
