Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Denmark international Patrick Dorgu on a permanent transfer from Serie A outfit Lecce, in what is a record sale for the Salentini.
Dorgu has joined United on a long-term, four-and-a-half year contract, which will run until the summer of 2030.
United have paid a reported fee of €30m, plus up to €7.5m in bonuses and add-ons to secure the 20-year-old’s services from Lecce.
He becomes the club’s most expensive sale of all time, surpassing the €20m that the club received from Sporting CP for the transfer of Morten Hjulmand in the summer of 2023.
Dorgu had originally joined Lecce for a fee of around €200,000 back in 2022.

“I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family,” Dorgu said in an official statement on Manchester United’s club website.
“I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”
Technical director Jason Wilcox added: “Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad.
“Patrick has had a superb start to his career, and at the age of just 20, we know he will continue to develop under the guidance of our excellent coaching team.
“Patrick is the latest exciting young player that we have brought into the club. We believe that each of these talents has world-class potential and the ability to play a key role in achieving the success that everyone at Manchester United is striving for.”

Dorgu becomes Manchester United’s first signing of the January transfer window and the first permanent addition of Ruben Amorim’s tenure. The versatile wideman has joined ahead United’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, but he is not expected to be involved on this occasion.
He bid his farewells to Lecce on Friday night, as he was named on the bench but remained an unused substitute as Marco Giampaolo’s side rose to a 3-1 victory away against Parma in a relegation six-pointed in Serie A.
