RB Leipzig have announced that they have appointed Tatjana Haenni as their new CEO, replacing Oliver Mintzlaff.
The role of CEO at the Red Bull Arena had been vacant after Mintzlaff departed to become managing director of the Red Bull group, replacing Dietrich Mateschitz following his death.
Haenni will begin her role at the club on January 1st and will work alongside sporting director Marcel Schäfer as well as Johann Plenge and Florian Hopp, who hold similar roles in business and administration.
This appointment makes Haenni the first woman to hold such a role with a Bundesliga side. The 59-year-old was previously head of the women’s football division of the Swiss football association.
Over the past year, Leipzig have continued to make several changes to their structure. First, Marcel Schäfer was appointed as sporting director, replacing the departed Rouven Schröder and Max Eberl. Then the biggest move of them all saw Jürgen Klopp appointed as the global head of soccer at the beginning of this year.
Now, the appointment of Haenni is the next of these changes.
