It is now official that Chema Andres has left Real Madrid to join Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart.
The German club confirmed the signing today, putting an end to weeks of speculation. The 20-year-old midfielder has signed a long-term contract until 2030, signalling Stuttgart’s strong belief in his potential.
The deal follows Real Madrid’s usual approach when transferring young players. In this case, they sold 50% of the player’s rights to Stuttgart for €3 million, while keeping the remaining 50%.
This allows Los Blancos to maintain a stake in Chema’s future, a strategy they’ve used for other academy products in recent years.
Chema arrived at Real Madrid’s youth academy, La Fabrica, in 2018 from Levante. Since then, he has steadily developed into a dependable defensive midfielder.
Last season, he featured for Castilla, clocking over 2,700 minutes in the First Federation. His consistency and maturity in the role made him a standout performer throughout the campaign.
Stuttgart are clearly excited about the signing. Fabian Wohlgemuth, the club’s sporting director, had high praise for the young midfielder. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said,
“In Chema Andres, we have signed a player who fits perfectly with the profile we defined for the defensive midfielder.
“Chema is already performing at a high level, he masters football and tactics, and, despite being young, still has great potential for development.
“We are delighted that Chema has chosen VfB and we warmly welcome him to Stuttgart.”
Chema now begins a new chapter in Germany, where he will aim to break into the first team and prove himself in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Stuttgart, known for nurturing young talent, looks like the ideal place for him to grow. And with Real Madrid keeping a close eye on his development, this could be a move that benefits all parties in the years to come.
