AC Milan managed to get a late deal over the line for Riccardo Sottil with Fiorentina, it has been confirmed, and he will join on loan with an option to buy.
It came as a bit of a shock yesterday when Matteo Moretto announced that Milan and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for Sottil over a paid loan with an option to buy set at around €10m.
Things went somewhat quiet after that initial breaking news, but then with less than a couple of hours of the window remaining things accelerated again towards a conclusion.
Fabrizio Romano gave the operation the ‘here we go’, adding that the deal in place is a €1m loan fee plus €10m option to buy. Sottil will be part of the homegrown squad list, and has five goals across all competitions so far this season.
A statement on Milan’s official website reads as follows: “AC Milan is pleased to announce the signing of Riccardo Sottil from ACF Fiorentina on a loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.
“Born in Turin on 3 June 1999, Sottil progressed through the youth academies of Genoa, Torino and Fiorentina, making his professional debut for Fiorentina in September 2018.
“Over the course of his career, he has also played for Pescara and Cagliari before returning to Fiorentina, where he made a total of 138 appearances and scored 15 goals. Sottil will wear the number 99 shirt.”
