Official: Venezia sign Basic as free agent from Lazio | OneFootball

Venezia have been promoted to Serie A and already announced their first new signing, picking up Toma Basic on a free transfer from Lazio.

The Lagunari topped the Serie B table and have celebrated their promotion with a unique boat parade down the canals of the city.

Now they are preparing for next season and confirmed the first fresh arrival, snapping up Basic as a free agent.

Basic set for Venezia adventure

The 29-year-old Croatia international was allowed to leave Lazio, as he was not offered a renewal with the contract set to expire on June 30.

He made 26 competitive appearances for the Biancocelesti this season, contributing two goals and three assists between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Basic will remain in the Italian top flight, this time wearing the Venezia jersey.

He had arrived in Italy for Lazio in 2021 from Girondins de Bordeaux, and stayed there other than a six-month loan spell with their sister club Salernitana in 2024.

The contract with Venezia runs to June 2029 with an automatic renewal if certain conditions are met.
