Xaver Schlager has joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal. According to BuLi News, the Austrian international arrives after his RB Leipzig contract expired.
He links up again with compatriot Oliver Glasner, who took charge this summer. The former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt coach now leads the two-time European Cup winners.
Schlager made 150 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg and Leipzig across the past seven seasons. He first worked with Glasner at Wolfsburg before a €12 million move to Leipzig in 2022.
After a serious injury in the previous season, he finished strongly in Leipzig, helping secure Champions League football.
The 28-year-old featured in all four matches for Austria at the World Cup, where they were knocked out by eventual champions Spain in the Round of 32.
