Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed two transfer deadline transactions, including Luca Netz’s sale to Nottingham Forest. In addition, the Bundesliga outfit had one arrival and one departure to announce shortly after the close-of-business in Germany.
Shortly after rumors of Hugo Bolin’s move to Gladbach began to surface, new details of the deal came to light. Gladbach will not be purchasing Bolin from his Norwegian outfit outright, but will rather loan him out until the end of the season. A €2m purchase option has still been secured.
“Hugo is a very interesting, creative, and enthusiastic footballer with a lot of potential,” BMG sporting director Rouven Schröder noted in a club statement. “He will increase our options in attack.“
“The move to Borussia is a big step for me and I’m very happy to be here now,” Bolin himself added. “The Bundesliga is a strong league and Mönchengladbach is a big club. I’m looking forward to experiencing Borussia-Park live on Saturday.”
After a less-than-inspiring loan out to 1. FC Kaiserslautern last spring, Gladbach will try to get the 22-year-old Armenian striking rolling in the 2. Bundesliga once again. Leon-Ranos will spend the duration of the campaign with Eintracht Braunschweig in the German second division.
Ranos did make eight top flight appearances this autumn and scored his first Bundesliga goal. The 23-times-capped Armenian international nevertheless continues to struggle to live up to his potential.
“Grant-Leon is a very talented attacker who has already gained Bundesliga experience this season,” BTSV sporting director Benjamin Kessel noted in a club statement. “He is a clever, technically sound and intelligent player who can operate both in the number ten position and up front. Grant-Leon will add to our versatility in the game and increase our options.”
“I am very much looking forward to the challenge at Eintracht Braunschweig and to helping the club achieve its goals for this season,” Ranos himself added. “I want to contribute my strengths and at the same time continue my development. The club officials and the coach quickly convinced me that this is the right move. I can’t wait to get started.“
Initially, the Premier League outfit that submitted an offer to Gladbach for Luca Netz was not apparent. It didn’t take long, however, for information to leak that Nottingham Forest were the ones after the 22-year-old. Few doubted that the deal would be confirmed once Netz passed his Forest medical.
“Luca has developed from a talented youngster at Borussia into an established Bundesliga professional,” Schröder noted in his statement wishing the former Hertha BSC academy man well. “It has become apparent in recent months that our time together will come to an end in the summer. This was therefore the last financial opportunity that would benefit all sides. We wish Luca all the best, both professionally and personally, during this new chapter in his life.“
