Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara’s loan out to Celtic Glasgow has been officially confirmed. The Scottish Premiership club confirms the existence of a purchase option in the loan arrangement. Cvancara maintains an estimated market value of €2.5m.
Sky Germany reports that Celtic will assume full responsibility for Cvancara’s wages as part of the deal. The Czech international will surely be relieved that – after a wage dispute led to the early termination of his recent Turkish loan – a reputable outfit will be signing his paychecks.
Cvancara joins Wolfsburg’s Andreas Skov Olsen (Rangers) and Bundesliga veteran Alexander Schwolow (Hears of Midlothian) in the Highlands. All three German club professionals have a chance to win this year’s title. Cvancara moves to the defensing Scottish champions, who have also been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt defender Auréle Amenda.
“We are delighted to have found an amenable solution for all parties involved,” BMG sporting director Rouven Schröder noted in a club statement. “[Celtic is] a good destination for Tomas following the premature termination of his loan to Antalyaspor.“
“It’s an enormous honor to sign for this club,” Cvancara noted in his own Celtic statement. “Celtic is one of the biggest names in world football and I’m pleased to be able to make my contribution here.“
