OL pick Canal + ahead of Ligue 1 + to air Champions League third qualifying round | OneFootball

OL’s Champions League third qualifying round will be shown on Canal + after the club chose it ahead of Ligue 1 +. L’Equipe reports that Ligue 1 + made a financial offer that was rejected.

The tie is slated for the first leg on four or five August, with the return on 11 August. OL will face one of Union Saint-Gilloise, Sparta Prague, NEC Nijmegen, or Heart of Midlothian or Sturm Graz. The draw takes place on Monday 20 July.

Canal + holds the European rights and will be the exclusive broadcaster from the play-offs if OL progress. Those dates are 18 and 19 August for the first legs, and 25 and 26 August for the returns.

At odds with Canal +, Ligue 1 +, whose audience is around 1.1 million subscribers, had hoped to make a statement with backing from French clubs. Launched a year ago, the platform will have exclusive Ligue 1 rights this season.

OL have also reserved coverage of their pre-season matches for OLPLAY, the club’s own platform.
