Former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is closing in on becoming AC Milan’s next manager with a new round of talks scheduled.
According to Calciomercato, negotiations between Milan and the Austrian manager are progressing positively, and a deal could be finalised in the coming days.
Glasner is the leading candidate to take charge at the San Siro following the acrimonious departure of ex-manager Massimiliano Allegri.
The 51-year-old left Palace after overseeing the most successful spell in the club’s history.
Glasner led the Eagles to two major trophies in just two years at the club, winning the FA Cup and Europa Conference League.
Palace secured the European trophy courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, thanks to a 51st-minute strike from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Glasner’s achievements at Palace have significantly bolstered his reputation, placing him on the radar of several top clubs across the continent.
However, Milan could be his next destination, with both parties poised to reach an agreement in the coming days.
The Rossoneri endured another disappointing campaign without silverware.
They missed out on a place in the Champions League following a shocking 2-1 defeat against Cagliari in their final Serie A fixture.
Glasner has his work cut out in a bid to restore Milan to the pinnacle of Italian and European football, but he views the opportunity as the perfect next step in his career.
The 51-year-old has already made Milan his preferred destination and believes the time is right to test himself at one of football’s most historic clubs.
