Olympiacos coach Jose Luis Mendilibar wasn’t happy at all despite Olympiacos’ 2-0 win over AEL on Saturday.
The former Sevilla coach was particularly cross with his team’s performance in the first half, where the team had to rely on an early goal and a penalty to secure a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.
Mendilibar believes the team should have done much better against an AEL side, which are yet to secure a single win in the Greek top-flight this season and are hovering in the relegation zone.
Speaking to the media after the game, Mendilibar was asked about the upcoming Champions League contest against Barcelona next week.
In response, the Spaniard said Olympiacos may end up conceding as many as eight goals if Olympiacos showcase their first-half performance against AEL.

“I don’t know. If we play as we did today in the first half, they’ll score 8 goals against us,” the coach said (h/t Thrylos 7 International).
Mendilibar, of course, has had his fair share of tussles with Barcelona and is more than familiar with the Catalans’ style of play.
The 64-year-old, after all, has spent multiple years coaching La Liga teams such as Athletic Club, Sevilla, Alaves, Levante and Osasuna, among others.
Throughout his career, Mendilibar has faced Barcelona 27 times in all competitions, but his teams have emerged victorious on only one occasion.
Mendilibar has tasted defeat against Barcelona 23 times – more than any other club in his managerial career.
The Olympiacos will be looking to improve on that dismal record as the Greek giants take on the Catalan side, who are coming on the back of a narrow 2-1 win over Girona on Saturday.
