OM 0-3 Liverpool ratings: Pavard endures torrid night against Ekitike | OneFootball

Hugo Ekitike tormented Benjamin Pavard as Liverpool beat OM 3-0 at the Vélodrome in the Champions League. The forward’s movement repeatedly exposed the Marseille defender.

According to L'Équipe, Marseille’s players averaged 3.9 to Liverpool’s 6.1. Pavard was marked 2, while Ekitike earned 7 for his relentless running.

Alexis Mac Allister threatened on 19 minutes before Ekitike had a finish ruled out for offside at 23. Amine Gouiri drew a smart stop from Alisson at 27 and Mohamed Salah sent an acrobatic effort over at 40. Dominik Szoboszlai then beat Rulli with a low free-kick in first-half stoppage time for 1-0.

Frimpong’s centre-shot found the net on 72, with Rulli unfortunate as the ball deflected in. Salah later spurned a late chance at 83.

In added time, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was denied by Alisson at 90+1, then Cody Gakpo struck the third at 90+3 after Pavard missed his tackle. Roberto De Zerbi’s plan faltered against Arne Slot’s patient approach, and early selections of Hamed Traoré and Gouiri over Igor Paixao and Aubameyang did not pay off.
