Mason Greenwood returned from suspension and injury to supply two assists as OM beat Metz 3-1 at the Vélodrome, while Alpha Touré endured a torrid evening. L'Équipe highlighted Greenwood's influence and Touré's difficulties.
Sadibou Sané’s stray pass gifted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang an early chance on eight minutes, which he missed. Aubameyang then finished a counter to open the scoring on 13 minutes from Greenwood’s through ball. He later had a second ruled offside at 32.
Gauthier Hein clipped the outside of the post on 44 minutes. Right after the interval, Paixao made it 2-0 on 48 minutes, again from Greenwood’s timing. Georgiy Tsitaishvili replied on 49 after Geronimo Rulli spilled, then the OM goalkeeper saved well at 62.
Greenwood fired five shots without scoring and was rated 7. He departed on 82 minutes for H. J. Traoré, who struck at 90+3 to seal it.
Aubameyang faded after the interval and was replaced by Arthur Vermeeren on 72 minutes. Quinten Timber was busier in midfield, making five recoveries and three interceptions, then went off for Nnadi at 82.
For Metz, Hein was lively and linked with Tsitaishvili. Touré was wasteful, repeatedly erring in possession, and centre-backs Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Sané struggled, with the stoppage-time third also on Gbamin.
