Barcelona planned to give Marcus Rashford some minutes during the 3-1 victory over Real Betis, but a late physical issue prevented him from appearing in what could have been his final home game at Spotify Camp Nou.
According to SPORT, Barcelona’s coaching staff initially intended to involve the English attacker during the second half of the match.
However, discomfort suffered before the game forced a change of plans, with the club ultimately deciding not to take any unnecessary risks.
Rashford had already missed training with the squad on Saturday, and manager Hansi Flick admitted before the game that the player would not be fit enough to start.
As the situation developed, Barcelona’s medical staff and coaching team reportedly agreed it was safer to keep him out entirely, especially with the World Cup approaching.

That decision may now carry extra emotional weight because Rashford’s long-term future at Barcelona remains unresolved.
If the English forward leaves the club this summer, the Betis game could end up being his final home appearance opportunity in a Barcelona shirt, without even stepping onto the pitch.
Although Barcelona would ideally like Rashford to continue next season, the financial side of the operation remains complicated.
The Catalan club are reluctant to pay the full €30 million fee, as discussed during negotiations with Man United, because they believe such a figure could affect other priority signings planned for the summer transfer window.
At the same time, Manchester United are not currently open to extending the loan arrangement or significantly lowering the conditions for a permanent transfer.
That has left negotiations in a difficult position.

Barcelona continue looking for creative solutions, but for now, there is still no certainty over whether Rashford will remain part of Flick’s project heading into next season.
The player himself remains comfortable in Barcelona and has adapted well both on and off the pitch. However, much will depend on whether the clubs can eventually reach a compromise financially.
As such, Rashford may still get one final Barcelona appearance
Even though he missed the Betis clash, Rashford still has one more possible opportunity to feature for Barcelona before the season officially ends.
The Catalans will face Valencia at Mestalla next weekend, and the English forward could potentially return in time to play a few final competitive minutes.
That match may now become important not only for Rashford’s closure but also for his future.
