One jeered, one applauded: Real Madrid fans afford contrasting treatment to 2 defenders vs Celta Vigo | OneFootball

The home crowd in attendance at Real Madrid’s meeting with Celta Vigo this evening have afforded altogether contrasting treatment to two of the club’s stars.

The pair in question? Lucas Vázquez, and Raúl Asencio.

Real are of course currently locked in action, vying it out with the aforementioned Celta Vigo for a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

Both of Vázquez and Asencio, meanwhile, were afforded starting berths, the former at right-back, and the latter at the heart of defence.

As alluded to above, though, upon receiving the ball during the early exchanges on Thursday, the defensive duo were met with heavily contrasting receptions.

For Vázquez, his presence in possession was repeatedly met with whistles and jeers.

Upon youngster Asencio receiving the ball, on the other hand, the 21-year-old was time and again shown massive support, courtesy of applause and even chants of the stopper’s name.
