Over the years, Inter Miami has signed talented players to build its roster. The Herons really put the MLS on the radar with their signings.
However, not every story in the team’s book is as good as it seems. Before Lionel Messi arrived in Miami, the squad was going through a rough time, with few footballers playing up to the level.
And like the world of football is so quick. Many players were released from the roster without even having enough playing time to show their worth.
There is one player in particular who left Inter Miami and improved his career.
Yes, despite leaving for an MLS team, CJ Dos Santos revived his career by joining San Diego. With Drake Callender as a starter and the addition of Oscar Ustari, the young goalkeeper wouldn’t play that much for the Herons.
Even though he played a few games, three, he wasn’t going to have the minutes needed to exploit his skills. Ustari arrived at Inter Miami to fill the GK2 position after CJ’s injury.
After that critical moment, the former Benfica academy player never saw the field again with the Herons. That’s where San Diego FC comes in.
San Diego FC, the newest club in MLS, signed the 25-year-old goalkeeper for $95,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Nowadays, CJ Dos Santos is the starting goalkeeper for San Diego, and the club is in first position in the Western Conference. San Diego holds a seven-goal advantage, with Dos Santos conceding 33 goals this season compared to Inter Miami’s 40.
Without Callender in the picture and Ustari with a low-level performance, the Herons are missing their former goalkeeper.
Even though the club has Rocco Rios Novo as a substitute, nothing would compare to the security CJ would have provided.
