Manchester City decided not to allow Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush to leave during the current winter transfer window.

Manchester City reportedly taken final decision over the future of Omar Marmoush with the club unwilling to let the Egyptian attacker depart in January.

Although Marmoush is under contract at the Etihad until summer 2029, his name has recently been linked with possible move away in search of more regular playing time.

Clubs such as Aston Villa, Tottenham and Turkish side Fenerbahce have all been mentioned as potential destinations.

However British outlet Football Insider claims City have now ruled out any winter exit for the player.

Guardiola wants full squad for all competitions

According to the report Pep Guardiola wants to keep his squad complete as City continue to fight on multiple fronts this season.

Marmoush is hoping for bigger role in his second campaign at the club but City believe he remains important option in attack especially with busy schedule across domestic and European competitions.

The forward recently impressed after returning from AFCON 2025 in Morocco helping City to 2-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, his first domestic appearance since international duty with Egypt.

Aston Villa were closest before City stance

Reports suggest Aston Villa had been the most serious contender to sign Marmoush during the winter window before City made their position clear.

The Egyptian international has also expressed preference to remain in the Premier League, rather than moving abroad at this stage of his career.

Marmoush joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for fee of around £59 million and scored seven goals in 16 league match during first half of last season.

Oscar Bobb move adds more clarity

In separate development, The Athletic reported that Manchester City have reached agreement with Fulham for the transfer of winger Oscar Bobb in deal worth £27 million including a 20% sell-on clause.

The departure of Bobb could be another sign that City are choosing to keep Marmoush as part of their wide attacking options especially after the recent arrival of Ghana winger Antoine Semenyo.

With one winger leaving, City appear determined not to lose another attacking player in the same window.
