Viktor Gyokeres has not scored a goal in seven consecutive games for club and country, a situation that is beginning to raise concerns for Arsenal. Typically, players struggling with form look forward to national team duties as an opportunity to refresh themselves and regain confidence, but Gyokeres has yet to find the net for the Sweden national team since joining the Gunners.
Before his move to Arsenal, Gyokeres had been prolific for Sweden, scoring nine goals in six appearances during his final matches as a Sporting Club player. His sudden goal drought, both for club and country, raises questions about his adjustment to life in North London and whether his previous form can be replicated at the highest level.
It is widely understood that adapting to a new team, league, and style of play can take time, and Gyokeres may be experiencing this transition. Nonetheless, the sharp contrast between his earlier performances for Sweden and his current struggles is notable. When signing a player who had achieved such remarkable success, there is always a concern that they may have been at their peak at their previous club. Arsenal were aware of Gyokeres’ reputation as a natural poacher who had been exceptional in front of goal, and they expected him to continue scoring regularly. The current drought suggests that the adjustment period is proving more challenging than anticipated.

The situation is particularly troubling as Gyokeres faces the possibility of missing out on the World Cup with Sweden due to his inability to score. If a player who previously netted consistently for his national team cannot perform at that level after moving to Arsenal, it may indicate that his potential has yet to fully materialise in the Premier League. This raises concerns for the club, which relies on forwards to provide consistent goal-scoring output.
Arsenal may need to consider strategies to help Gyokeres regain his confidence and scoring touch, both for the club and for his national team. While patience is often required when integrating a new player, the stark decline in form compared to his previous achievements is a clear cause for concern. Ensuring that he adapts successfully could be crucial not only for his individual development but also for Arsenal’s ambitions this season.
