Having secured a crucial victory over Barcelona last Sunday, Real Madrid will shift focus to next week’s big encounter against Liverpoool, in the UEFA Champions League.

The Spanish giants have started the UCL season with three back-to-back wins and another victory against Liverpool could go a long way in solidifying their position inside the top eight.

With less than a week remaining for the big clash at Anfield, Real Madrid have been handed a major boost, with one of Liverpool’s star players picking up an injury.

Jeremie Frimpong ruled out against Real Madrid

According to Daily Mail, Jeremie Frimpong is staring at a six-week spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury, effectively ruling him out against Real Madrid.

This could serve as a major blow for Liverpool, who have endured a difficult start to the season and are already missing key players such as Alisson due to injury.

In addition, Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch have both been struggling with knocks as well, thereby depleting the ranks at Liverpool.

In Frimpong, the Reds would lose their primary left-back, although it must be noted that Frimpong has had a very slow start to life after joining the club in the summer.

Interestingly, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso, who is expected to follow a Jose Mourinho model next week, is well aware of Frimpong’s capabilities, having worked with him at Bayer Leverkusen.

Real Madrid, for their part, would certainly welcome the absence of Frimpong at Anfield, although Los Blancos have their own set of injuries to worry about.

Indeed, Dani Carvajal has been ruled out of the contest after undergoing knee surgery, while David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger are also not available for the record European champions.

Alonso, therefore, will once again have to make adjustments in the defensive unit as he looks to orchestrate yet another big win for Los Blancos next week.
