Inter Milan fell agonizingly short of their 21st Serie A title last season, with Napoli beating them to the punch on the final day.

According to Opta via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri remain the leading candidates to win the Scudetto this season.

Despite parting with Simone Inzaghi in the summer, Inter Milan haven’t lost their status as Serie A frontrunners.

Indeed, new coach Cristian Chivu has picked up where his predecessor left off, keeping the San Siro club firmly in the title conversation.

Chivu’s men have recovered from a sluggish league start, putting together three straight wins after back-to-back defeats.

Therefore, they sit only three points behind the early pacesetters Napoli and Roma.

Given their current position in the standings, it’s not surprising that Opta’s data suggest Inter’s Scudetto chances have dwindled.

For context, Opta’s supercomputer had pegged Inter’s title-winning chances at 35.9% before the season kicked off.

However, the percentage has dwindled to 28.46% after the opening six Serie A rounds.
