Otávio gave remote evidence from Saudi Arabia on Monday in a court case over his move from FC Porto to Al Nassr, denying any meeting with Livesoccer and saying talks were only with former president Pinto da Costa. Livesoccer is seeking a three million euro commission from Porto.
He called the switch life-changing and positive for Porto. According to Público, he said he waived three million euros from his transfer share, reduced from six million.
He recounted that after renewing on improved terms, he had planned to leave one or two years later and spoke with Pinto da Costa. The president asked for 40 million euros up front, which he told him was impossible, though he said it would have been Porto’s biggest recent sale.
He said public interviews had already suggested he would be staying, so he trained and put the matter aside. With coach Sérgio Conceição in hospital after surgery, he spoke to assistants before Pinto da Costa arrived with Luís Gonçalves to say the deal was agreed.
He wanted a farewell appearance but did not play after being told the move was sealed, mindful of injury risk. He said he would not call it a delay, adding Porto sometimes sought extensions to deadlines and he did not want any conflict.
Porto is said to have already paid Livesoccer 2.4 million euros.
