Palace Launch Scathing Attack on UEFA Over Europa League Snub

Crystal Palace's launched fierce attack on UEFA after the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS rejected the club’s appeal against being excluded from the Europa League and placed in Conference league.

UEFA Decision Sparks Outrage

The controversy stems from UEFA’s ruling that Lyon not Palace, would take the Europa League spot due to multi club ownership rules. At the time, Eagle Football held majority stake in Lyon while its chairman John Textor also had controlling interest in Palace.

In strongly worded statement, Palace said the decision "robbed" their FA cup winning squad of the right to compete in the Europa league. "Sporting merit has become meaningless" the club declared accusing certain clubs, organisations and individuals of enjoying "unique privilege & power"

Palace accused UEFA of inconsistent rule enforcement and warned of wider damage to the sport’s integrity. The club also criticised CAS claiming the process was "designed to strictly limit" appeals & "made it almost impossible" to secure fair hearing.

The statement concluded by calling for the case to be "a turning point" in football governance while vowing to approach the Conference League with the same determination to win.
