Palhinha: Bayern ‘to prioritise’ sales as Benfica loan route blocked | OneFootball

Benfica’s hopes of bringing João Palhinha back have taken a hit, with Bayern Munich favouring sales over loans this summer, Sky Sports Germany reports.

Uli Hoeness has pushed the club to pursue permanent exits and raise funds for players outside Vincent Kompany’s plans. Alongside Palhinha, Bryan Zaragoza and Sacha Boey are among those flagged for possible departures.

That stance could complicate Benfica’s approach, since a loan had been viewed as the most realistic route to securing the midfielder’s return to Portuguese football.

Before travelling to Germany to report for Bayern, Palhinha declined to discuss the situation, saying people would have to wait, that he respects the media’s work, but he would not speak now.

Rui Costa has also been cautious, stressing that Palhinha belongs to Bayern and that Bayern’s demands are well known. He said Benfica are focused on those currently at the Benfica Campus, preparing to chase a first official win on Thursday.
