According to Globo.com, Palmeiras need only medical tests and final paperwork to announce Jhon Arias from Wolverhampton in England. The 28-year-old Colombian is considered an experienced, high-profile addition this window.

The deal is set at 25 million euros, R$ 155 million, paid in instalments, with a four-year contract. Arias has been a long-term target, after a 2024 approach was blocked by Fluminense. Palmeiras then signed Facundo Torres, since sold to Austin FC in the United States.

With Marlon Freitas already integrated, the club are seeking two more reinforcements. At centre-back Nino is the priority, talks are advanced with his camp, but Zenit are reluctant to negotiate now.

A club representative has held direct talks with the Russian hierarchy without progress. Palmeiras are prepared to wait until June if it helps to unlock a deal, with Fluminense also in the race for Nino.

In midfield, the focus had been Danilo, now at Botafogo, but the Rio club sent a letter stating they will not negotiate at this time. Palmeiras have paused that pursuit and will scan alternatives before the 3 March deadline. If no immediate-impact option emerges, they are likely to revisit the search in the mid-year window.
