Palmeiras beat Flamengo 3-0 at the Maracanã, opening a seven-point lead, but Abel Ferreira faces a selection crunch for Chapecoense, the final round before the World Cup pause.
According to Nosso Palestra, Andreas Pereira, Carlos Miguel and Giay are suspended after cards against Flamengo, so they will miss next Sunday, 31, against Chapecoense.
In addition, the club could lose up to eight players to South American national teams during the Fifa window, with call-ups possible for World Cup qualifiers and friendlies.
Paraguay: Mauricio, Ramón Sosa, Gustavo Gómez. Uruguay: Emiliano Martínez, Joaquín Piquerez. Argentina: Flaco López and Giay, the latter also suspended. Colombia: John Arias.
If all are selected, Abel Ferreira could be without virtually an entire XI for the Brasileirão round.
Injuries add to the issues, with Bruno Fuchs sidelined by a thigh problem, Vitor Roque recovering from ankle surgery and Benedetti nursing an ankle sprain.
Even so, Palmeiras remain in form. They lead the Campeonato Brasileiro on 37 points, with Flamengo second on 31 and with one game fewer.
Abel’s side are unbeaten in 12 Campeonato Brasileiro matches, the longest active streak, and have lost only once in their last 19, to Vasco in Rio de Janeiro, with 13 wins and five draws.
