Palmeiras gear up for Juventude, Veiga: ‘Everyone’s ready’

Palmeiras held another training session on the morning of Thursday (09) at the Football Academy, continuing their preparations for the match against Juventude, scheduled for Saturday (11) at 7:00 PM, at Allianz Parque, in a rescheduled game from the 12th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

How was the training?

After physical activation at the excellence center, the players went out to the field and worked on tactical drills, such as ball exits, shifts, and marking. Next, there were defensive rehearsals with assistant coach Carlos Martinho and offensive drills with assistant Vitor Castanheira. At the end, some players also worked on perfecting their free kicks. Khellven, Paulinho, Lucas Evangelista, and Ramón Sosa continued their schedule with the Health and Performance Center.

Speak up, Veiga!

After the session, midfielder Raphael Veiga highlighted the importance of the victory in the derby against São Paulo last Sunday (05), as a motivational factor for the clash against the team from Rio Grande do Sul.

Winning a derby has a different taste, especially the way it happened, with a great comeback in the second half. That gives us a huge motivation, a lot of confidence for our team. We’re already heading towards the end of the championship and that makes everyone feel important as well, after all, everyone is going to need everyone else.

The club’s top scorer of the century, with 106 goals, and the all-time top scorer at Allianz Parque, with 54 goals, Veiga emphasized the strength and depth of the squad.

Palmeiras has always had good players in every position and that raises the level of training. Obviously, the players who were called up are important, but those who stayed here are also very important and will definitely get the job done. Everyone is prepared, we’ve already played plenty of important matches this year, so it will definitely be a good game against Juventude.
