Flamengo made an enquiry for Jhon Arias in this window, but the former Fluminense midfielder has given Palmeiras the green light.
According to UOL, Palmeiras have begun talks with Arias’ representatives, the initial contact was viewed positively, and the player is open to returning to Brazil as his Premier League form has dipped.
Wolverhampton signed Arias for 17 million euros, about R$ 110 million, plus a further five million euros, roughly R$ 32 million, in bonuses. The English club want to recoup part of the initial R$ 110 million.
Fluminense retain first refusal should Arias return to Brazil. Palmeiras would therefore need to see off competition from the Rio side to land the Colombian.
Meanwhile, Flamengo have already made two signings in this window, Vitão and Andrew. Both have reported to the club and are available to head coach Filipe Luís for pre-season.
