Palmeiras beat Bahia 2-1 on Sunday to make it five straight in 2026, all in the Brasileirão. They moved to 25 points from 10 matches, five clear of São Paulo and Fluminense. Flamengo and Bahia are on 17 with a game in hand and could reach 20.

According to Nosso Palestra, the run mirrors a viral challenge by English influencer Frank Ilett, a Manchester United fan. He has vowed not to cut his hair until his team win five in a row, something that has not happened since 2024.

This latest run features league victories over Grêmio 2-1, São Paulo 1-0, Botafogo 2-1 and Mirassol 1-0, before the 2-1 defeat of Bahia. Palmeiras last lost on 12 March, to Vasco, in the Brasileirão.

Widening the lens, they had won five in a row before that Vasco setback, so it is 10 wins from the last 11. Those earlier successes were against Grêmio Novorizontino twice, 2-1 and 1-0, São Paulo 2-1, Fluminense 2-1 and Capivariano 4-0.

They also stitched five straight across the turn of the year, combining the first three games of 2026 with the final two of 2025. That sequence read Portuguesa 1-0, Santos 1-0, Mirassol 1-0, then Atlético-MG 3-0 and Ceará 3-1.

Attention now shifts to the Libertadores, with an opener against Junior Barranquilla in Cartagena, Colombia, on Wednesday 8. In the league, Palmeiras visit Corinthians on Sunday 12 at the Neo Quimica Arena.
