Palmeiras have finalised Marlon Freitas and Jhon Arias and are not expected to make further early-season signings, instead mapping their mid-2026 window. According to Nosso Palestra, the plan targets a centre-back, a holding midfielder and cover for potential departures.

Nino, formerly of Fluminense and now at Zenit, is understood to have a preliminary agreement with the club. Palmeiras intend to push talks with the Russian side in the coming months.

For the holding role, Palmeiras tried to sign Fabinho of Al Ittihad at the end of 2025. During discussions, he indicated he was not open to returning to Brazilian football, so interest cooled.

Even so, the board do not rule out another move if the experienced midfielder signals a change of stance. Other, undisclosed options remain on their shortlist.

The club accept they could lose players in mid-2026, with forward Flaco López and midfielder Allan certain to be targets for European clubs. A stay after the World Cup is considered unlikely for the Argentine. Should exits occur, Abel Ferreira wants replacements to keep the squad at a high level.
