Palmeiras have made Danilo, a club-trained midfielder now at Botafogo, their top target for the next transfer window. They are preparing a move.
According to Nosso Palestra, the club are preparing to present terms to the player's representatives, covering salary and a signing-on fee.
Club chiefs are aware Danilo wants a move to a major European side after the World Cup. He was called up by Carlo Ancelotti on Monday 18.
People involved in the talks believe it is unlikely a bid above €30 million will arrive from Europe. That could change if multiple clubs bid or if he excels at the World Cup.
So far Palmeiras have not made an official approach to Botafogo, but they believe the Rio club would now open negotiations, unlike at the start of the season.
Botafogo sidelined Danilo on Tuesday 19 after he asked not to face Corinthians, to avoid a 13th appearance that would prevent him playing for another Brazilian club.
