Palmeiras have released three academy players while retaining 50% of their economic rights for any future sale.

According to Globo.com, centre-back Fred Stradiotto, 18, full-back Fernando, 18, and midfielder Felipe Goto, 19, have departed.

Fred is joining Genoa in Italy, and his Italian citizenship helped smooth the move. Fernando has signed for Monterrey in Mexico, while Felipe Goto is heading to Cruzeiro.

The trio had slipped down the pecking order in the youth set-up as external interest grew. The exits form part of the club’s planning.

Palmeiras have profited from similar arrangements before. Pedro Lima was sold by AVS to Sporting Lisbon in this window, with Palmeiras holding 30% of his economic rights and receiving about R$ 7 million.
