Palmeiras step up preparations to face Grêmio in the Brasileirão

Palmeiras continued their preparations on Monday morning (30) for the match against Grêmio. The game will take place on Thursday (2) at 9:30 p.m. at Arena Crefisa Barueri, for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship.

Leading the competition with 19 points — with six wins, one draw, and one loss — Verdão remain focused on maintaining their good form. The training session took place at the Football Academy and lasted approximately an hour and a half.

The activities began with a muscle activation session in the indoor area of the training center. The players then went out onto the pitch for technical work in a reduced space, with emphasis on possession, build-up play, and marking.

Forward Paulinho, who is regaining match fitness, and midfielder Figueiredo, who is in transition, took part in the activities as floaters, interacting with both teams. Later, the duo trained with youth academy players. The rest of the squad was divided into three teams to continue the technical work.

This break has been very important for us to improve until the next break for the World Cup. We had a very fast start to the year, with few days to train and, even so, we did an impeccable job. I see the day-to-day work of all the club staff with all the players, the concern they have for everyone to leave us at the best possible level, and the break was very good to get us in better condition for what is to come

The goalkeeper also commented on his impressive milestone in the green-and-white shirt.

We start playing and we don’t imagine what will happen in the future, after a year, eight months later. When I stop to look at how difficult the matches were when I started, the decisions we had, the whole process was very important and, thank God, I was able to help and today I reach this milestone. I’m happy and I share the credit with my teammates. We fight together, we celebrate when we clear a ball. That’s how a team is formed, with warriors, with champions, and we have to have that spirit. I can only be thankful, I’m very happy about it

Finally, the number 1 looked ahead to the clash against Grêmio.

It’s an important match for us because of how important it is to get the three points at home. The Brazilian Championship is very difficult and long, so we have to be resilient and have a very strong mentality, knowing that there will be good and bad days. We’ll be ready, we’ll fight, and on Thursday we’ll put in a great performance and come away with the win
