Palmeiras will send letters to the Brazilian Football Confederation this week to challenge recent decisions, with the postponement of Flamengo v Fluminense from Saturday to Sunday among the triggers. According to Globo.com, the club argues only one side was favoured while others saw similar requests refused.

Mirassol had a bid to delay their game with Remo turned down, despite facing a 52-hour turnaround after completing the rain-delayed second half against Novorizontino. The federation considered that Mirassol had not formalised any request. Cruzeiro and Avaí, in Série B, also had appeals rejected.

There were widespread flight disruptions across Brazil, the same justification used for the Fla-Flu switch, and Avaí felt common sense did not prevail in their case.

Palmeiras are also angered by the refusal to grant Abel Ferreira a stay of his eight-match suspension for expulsions in the Brasileiro. He will serve one game against Corinthians and be absent from the touchline. The STJD’s full court will hear his appeal on Wednesday.

The club intends to highlight what it sees as inconsistent treatment, pointing to Flamengo’s Carrascal, banned for four matches yet cleared to play, with his second-instance hearing also set for Wednesday.

Palmeiras had already issued a statement expressing deep dissatisfaction with the handling of Abel’s case and the Fla-Flu postponement, calling for impartiality and transparency in decisions that can shape the competition.
