With the national calendar paused for March’s FIFA window, Lucas Paquetá is using the break to cement his place at Flamengo under Leonardo Jardim and push his World Cup case.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he is making the most of time with Jardim to adapt further at the Rubro-Negro.
His name was missing from the final pre-tournament call-up. Carlo Ancelotti has not ruled him out, noting that players omitted now, including Paquetá, could still make the final squad.
Without Paquetá, Brazil play two friendlies in this window, first against France on Thursday 26 in Boston at 17:00 Brasília time, then Croatia on Tuesday 31 at 21:00 in Orlando, Florida.
Flamengo signed him for his versatility, using him as a No 10 and as a second midfielder. Since Jardim arrived, he has started three of five matches and come on in two.
He scored in the 1-1 draw with Corinthians in their last Brasileirão match. Since returning, he has four goals in 14 appearances, one more than Arrascaeta’s three in 12.
