Lucas Paquetá marked his 100th Flamengo appearance as a starter against Vitória on Tuesday, yet to settle since returning last month. He has played four times, starting the last three.

According to Globo.com, his comeback cost 42 million euros, R$260 million, and has lifted expectations among fans. The club believe he will soon reach peak fitness and settle into Filipe Luís’s style. Across 100 games he has 18 goals and seven assists, with 48 wins, 34 draws and 18 defeats, a 59.3 per cent record.

An academy product, Paquetá debuted on 5 March 2016 in a 3-1 win over Bangu and became a first-team regular the following year. He left for Milan at the end of 2018.

Notable games include a 4-0 win over Madureira in the Carioca on 19/02/2017, when he came on and struck his first professional goal from range. He then opened the scoring in a 2-0 win over Inter on 06/05/2018 from his own free-kick rebound, a night that also brought Paolo Guerrero’s return, while William Pottker was sent off and D’Alessandro went unpunished for striking him.

In the Brasília clássico on 07/06/2018, his flair and Vinicius Junior’s irritated coach Abel Braga, as Henrique Dourado and Felipe Vizeu sealed a 2-0 win. He then hit a first senior brace in a 3-0 victory at Corinthians on 05/10/2018, before bowing out in a 2-1 defeat to Athletico-PR on 01/12/2018, an emotional farewell in which he cried during the anthem.
