Flamengo have sealed the signing of Lucas Paquetá, drawing worldwide reaction to a South American record €42m fee, about R$ 260m. According to Globo.com, the deal was completed on Wednesday.

The Athletic said West Ham reluctantly agreed to sell Lucas Paquetá. Portugal’s A Bola said Flamengo made history and referenced West Ham coach Nuno Espírito Santo.

Sport reported West Ham accepted £35.5m to sell Paquetá. Germany’s Kicker highlighted the record and said he is finally leaving West Ham.

France’s L'Equipe focused on the figures and said West Ham confirmed his return to Flamengo. Argentina’s Olé was succinct, noting the clubs had struck an agreement with the player.

Spain’s Marca invoked Filipe Luís and said Flamengo would break the bank for Paquetá, adding the move eclipses Gerson at Cruzeiro. Fellow Spanish outlet AS highlighted surprise at the size of the fee.

Mexico’s Récord framed it as a homecoming, saying Lucas Paquetá had signed for Flamengo.
