FK Austria Wien have announced the signing of Patricia Pfanner, who will join the club ahead of the new season from city rivals First Vienna FC. The versatile 22-year-old arrives in Favoriten on a contract until 2028.

Pfanner brings proven experience in the Austrian top flight and adds further depth and flexibility to Austria Vienna’s attacking options. Known for her ability to operate in offensive roles, she joins the club after an impressive comeback following a knee injury in 2024.

“I’m convinced this is exactly the right step for me,” said Pfanner. “The club’s development and ambitions speak for themselves and ultimately convinced me to make the move. I’m excited to meet my new teammates and everyone around the club and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”

Originally from Vorarlberg, Pfanner began her football journey in her hometown of Lauterach before joining FFC Vorderland in 2018. Later that year, at just 15 years old, she moved to St. Pölten to attend the Austrian Football Association’s Women’s Academy.

After spending two seasons with USV Neulengbach, she joined First Vienna FC in 2022 and went on to spend four years with the club. During her time there, she helped them secure a second-place league finish in 2024.

Despite suffering a serious knee injury in 2024, Pfanner showed remarkable resilience and determination to return to action approximately one year later. She quickly re-established herself as a key player, enjoying an outstanding 2025/26 campaign in which she recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 24 league and cup appearances.

‘Austria Wien is the right place for her’

Head Coach Stefan Kenesei welcomed the signing and highlighted both Pfanner’s footballing qualities and character.

“We’ve been watching Patricia Pfanner for quite some time and have closely followed her development”, said Kenesei. “Her comeback after injury has been particularly impressive. With 19 points in 24 games, she underlines her quality in the final third.”

“Patricia can play in several attacking positions, which will give our game greater variety and unpredictability. Beyond her footballing ability, she brings a positive and open personality that fits perfectly within our environment and can further strengthen the team dynamic.

“We believe she still has significant room for development and are convinced that Austria Wien is the right place for her to take the next steps in her career.”

Pfanner becomes the latest addition to Austria Wien’s squad as the club continues to build for the future, adding a dynamic and versatile attacking player with both experience and significant potential.
