Liverpool’s summer transfer plans are certainly starting to unravel in front of us. Arne Slot has already captured his first signing of 2025 as Jeremie Frimpong was unveiled on Friday evening, after the Reds triggered the Dutchman’s £29million release clause.
The club remain in advanced talks to sign both AFC Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez and Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. Both of those deals are expected to be wrapped up over the next couple of weeks.
However, today Paul Joyce has confirmed that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Brentford over the signing of Caoimhin Kelleher. The Irishman is set to join the Bees in a £18million move, as confirmed by the reliable reporter.
With Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive from Valencia for around £30million this summer, Kelleher was always expected to leave Liverpool this summer. With just one-year left on his current contract, £18million is an astute piece of business from Richard Hughes, despite earlier reports of a £25million price tag.
The arriving Mamardashvili is expected to partner Alisson Becker for the upcoming season as Liverpool look to retain the Premier League title. Viteszlav Jaros is expected to remain as third-choice goalkeeper, after impressing in his few appearances under Slot this season.
Thomas Frank’s side were quickly tipped to be at the front of the race to sign Kelleher after Mark Flekken’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, which was confirmed earlier today.
Kelleher joins both Sepp Van Den Bergh and Fabio Carvalho in making the switch from Anfield to the Gtech Community Stadium. Across those three deals, Liverpool have reeled in close to £60million up-front. Not bad business at all.
