The Premier League have appointed Paul Tierney to referee Leeds United's trip to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Leeds head to Old Trafford after booking Wembley with last weekend's FA Cup quarter-final shootout win at West Ham. Daniel Farke's men have not won a league game for two months.

United will have gone more than three weeks without a game by Monday after their FA Cup exit.

Tierney will be assisted by Richard West and Scott Ledger, with Adam Herczeg fourth official and John Brooks on VAR. He has handled only seven Premier League matches this season, averaging 17.43 fouls and 3.43 bookings per game.

It is his first Premier League appointment this season for both clubs.

He was on VAR when Stuart Attwell oversaw last month's 1-0 home defeat by Sunderland, when a clear first-half penalty was not awarded after Luke O'Nien held Pascal Struijk in the box.

The Key Match Incidents panel later ruled the decision incorrect, saying O'Nien was not looking at the ball, put his arms around Struijk's neck and stopped his progress.

In the next league game, a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off for two bookings by Thomas Bramall, which the panel has since deemed wrong after Bramall checked with fourth official Tierney.
