Paulo Fonseca confirms timeline for Malick Fofana’s pending return from injury | OneFootball

In his pre-match press conference as Lyon prepares to face Nantes, Paulo Fonseca provided a provisional timeline for the pending return of Malick Fofana (20). The Belgian international forward has been out for several months due to injury, but is nearing a return to action with OL. 

After suffering an ankle injury during Lyon’s 2-1 victory against Strasbourg, the former Gent attacker was forced off on a stretcher. The magnitude of the injury left fans of Les Gones fearing the worst, knowing they would be without a key attacking figure for an extended period. Fofana has been out of action for just under 4 months. 

Fofana to return in 2-3 weeks

The positive, despite the 20-year-old’s long absence, is that he is not far away from making his return. Fonseca expects the wide forward to be available for selection in the next 2-3 weeks. This timeline means the Belgian could make a return for the Olympico or OL’s Coupe de France quarter-final against Lens.
