Paz says Corinthians offer to Memphis differs from current contract | OneFootball

Corinthians executive Marcelo Paz believes talks over Memphis Depay’s renewal could conclude in the coming days, and he hopes for a positive outcome by Monday.

According to Globo.com, Memphis has responded positively to the terms and negotiations have advanced, although it remains uncertain whether the deal will be finalised.

Paz said the club want to keep him and are clear on what they can commit to, with a proposal combining salary and additional revenue streams. He cited jointly created products, events and sponsorships that could lift overall earnings for both club and player.

He added the proposed agreement is markedly different from his current deal and still under debate, with a decision possible by Sunday or Monday. Paz was speaking at a CBF event in Rio de Janeiro.

Corinthians intensified talks after the World Cup, judging that losing Memphis would weaken a squad unlikely to be reinforced in this window.

The club are barred from registering new players due to three transfer bans and are also contending with a severe financial crisis that prevents investment.

Corinthians have until 31 July, the final day of the Dutchman’s contract, to formalise and register a renewal running until mid 2028. If that does not happen, the bans would block registration and he would be ineligible for official matches until the sanctions are lifted.

The No 10 will miss Fernando Diniz’s match against Remo on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time at Neo Química Arena in the Campeonato Brasileiro, as he has not yet returned to Brazil.
