Pedro celebrates historic Flamengo scoring milestone at club

Flamengo honoured Pedro on Tuesday 14 after the striker became the club’s leading scorer of the 21st century.

After a news conference, the player said in an Instagram post that he was honoured to receive a commemorative plaque and he thanked God, his team-mates and the fans.

Pedro reached 163 goals for Flamengo by scoring twice against Fluminense on Sunday 12, overtaking Gabigol on 161 to take top spot this century.

The club marked the milestone at Ninho do Urubu, where the centre-forward received plaques and spoke alongside president Luiz Eduardo Baptista.

With Pedro available, Flamengo now focus on upcoming fixtures. They face Independiente Medellín (COL) on Thursday 16 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã, in the second round of the Copa Libertadores.
